It seems that the work that some organizations are
doing to promote tolerance and respect to gays, lesbians, bisexuals, Trans, and Intersex rights are having their fruits. It is evident, that some TV programs, magazines, and even singers are including the life of Trans persons in their works. Last week, I could see the coming out of Alexia and Robbie Williams.

For those who have Nicaraguan cable TV, Estesa, you can now sit in your couch or lay on your beds to follow Ugly Betty. This TV serie, based on Betty La Fea, has a new member among the protagonists. Now, Alexia is doing her appearance. She’s Daniel Meade’s brother… wait, ¡sister! After everyone thought he died, now she’s coming to life again as Alexia, a beautiful and singular women, eager to take the control of Mode Magazine. What I consider singular, is the approach of this character. To mention some attitudes, she’s giving herself the right to be whom she really is, a woman, with ot without her family or the society approval. What I like the most is that she’s requesting to be treated as a woman and to be recognized by her identity, Alexia, and not by whom she used to be in the past. Obviously, the situation of this rich woman is not the same of all transsexuals, travesties, or transgender. With all her money, Alexia could pay for her surgery and maybe for all her legal identity matters. But what I highlight the most, is the fact that an international TV channel, displayed in many countries, is having what can be considered as a controversial character and it’s incorporating her into the daily life of the characters of Ugly Betty.

Also, last week I watched the new Robbie Williams’ video she’s Madonna. Again, the presence of Trans women was important and really obvious. It was really surprising and according to my analysis, he’s making a call to all of those who feel as woman in the body of a man to come out and get real. Real life is to have fun doing what we like the most, and if we don’t like what we are doing, then we should capitalize and get the most out of every single day experience.
